During the major part of the Florida-Georgia COVID-19 closure in April, Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge remained open and we made several visits over several weeks which kept us sane (at least a little bit). It is only an hour away from our house so a quick day trip with a packed lunch was a perfect way to get out into nature and maintain social distancing. The birds were oblivious to the turmoil us humans were experiencing.

We all need a bolt hole! ππ

We bolted a lot during that time. It was safer than going to the grocery store. Now people act like itβs over, not wearing masks in public and we break positive case records every day. We wore our masks out on the boardwalk yesterday walking out to the beach outside because NO one person had a mask on and we had to pass by them. Craziest thing Iβve ever seen.

I agree it’s so strange how people seem to be in denial. You are right wear a mask, be safe honestly it all we can do. We have had all the protests going on ..just waiting for another spike. Praying it won’t come . πππ€

Oh here too. Our spike is from Memorial Day a month ago and our wonderful leaders are blaming our record breaking numbers on more tests. I think itβs a crock of crap! People act like all has passed. Ugh! π

Yes indeed Lisa we all need common sense because nothing and no one else is going to help us right now π

When I say, “your Donald Trump” I mean collectively. And no offense. π

No offense. Trump is a jackass! Iβm not sure I could salute him if I was still in the military because I have no respect for him at all! π

I keep hearing this, it amazing he is holding the position of President. He is a blight on your Nation and the world. Let’s hope he doesn’t get another term! πΉπΉπ

Yeah I hope not. I will be at the polls. I didnβt vote for him in the last election and was appalled when the numbers came in. I didnβt like him before he was president.

All our wildlife places were shut, hopefully not for much longer. I’m really missing them. Not good that people are not using yours safely though.

Thereβs no place safe in Florida unless you stay home. Unfortunately!

I usually only get one Okefenokee visit per year. But because the Covid slowdown I made it back again in May… two visits in one year! It is such an awesome place. Glad to see your blog about it! William http://www.okefenokee.photography

Iβm glad you got an extra visit to the park. Itβs too hot for us to go up there right now. Itβs to the beach every week now as long as the tides and wind direction are doable. We will go back in the fall and winter. π
