Bird Weekly – Photo Challenge – Flocks of Birds

Nanday Parakeets taking off from the beach at Fort Desoto Park in Florida.

You know we teach our children to stay together. Safety in numbers! The same is true for birds. Being by yourself is a risky proposition. You have a far better chance of being grabbed by a predator or bird of prey when you are alone. Birds don’t have to worry about social distancing and those who travel together, have a higher percentage to survive.

SQUARES – Perspective – Crowded?

I took this photo several years ago at a Heart Walk fundraising event in Tampa, Florida. Quite the turnout, but are we seeing this today? In most places, no! While the riots are still going on, yes! The sad part about this perspective is no one needed to worry about wearing a mask, keeping their social distance or whether or not they would survive another day!

SQUARES – Perspective – Beach Rig

We just bought a new beach umbrella, but a few weeks ago when we headed to the beach, we improvised, MacGyver style. With an old umbrella pole and old wooden curtain rod, plus velcro straps and bungees, we rigged up our own beach oasis.

SQUARES – PERSPECTIVE – 4TH OF JULY

Today is July 4, 2020. A day that we celebrate the Independence of the United States of America. You know, as each day goes by, we are living in the nightmare of COVID-19, social distancing, racial inequalities, job losses and a failing economy. I began soul searching for what our country could be. We are the United States of America, not the Divided States of America. Liberty and Justice for all…not just a few!

Silent Sunday – ST. Andrew’s Garden

St. Andrews Episcopal Church in Jacksonville, Florida.

They are holding church services every Sunday now, but in the main reception building where we vote. I know it is a larger space than the chapel seen in the photographs where they can worship and maintain social distancing.

Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge – Georgia – WWE

Okefenokee Wildlife Refuge remained open and we made several visits over several weeks which kept us sane (at least a little bit).

Silent Sunday – Red-Shouldered Hawk

Red-shouldered Hawk taking flight from a pine tree at St. Marks Wildlife Refuge.

Sequence of a Red-shouldered Hawk taking off from a Pine Tree when we were driving along Lighthouse Road in the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge on April 20, 2020.
