SQUARES – The WAding Kind

With the surf going out and feeding on this waders mind, can you name that bird?

Okay, like I was going to make you wait for the answer…it’s a Willet! I have seen more of them this past summer than ever before and they don’t appear to be as skittish as they used to be. This character was pretty much into what was in the water than me being there photographing. Along with their eyes, they use the tips of their bills to find prey. They can feed both day & night.

Willets live year round on most of the coastline of the United States, Mexico, Caribbean Islands & parts of South America. They are nocturnal migrants which means they fly at night.

    • I’m not an ornithologist. I just love birds! I wished I had gotten interested in birds at a younger age, I would have become an ornithologist. I’m just a birder and photographer that tries to learn as much as I can and enjoy seeing other peoples bird photos from around the world. 🙂
