Brown is the new kaleidoscope of color and all of you met that challenge with some gorgeous birds this week.

Seems like everyone had fun with the “out of the box” challenge. There were some great moon shots!

The Cinnamon Teal was seen south of Jacksonville near Cape Canaveral at Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge (2 1/2 hour drive one way). The Canvasback was spotted in the pond adjacent to the St. Marks Lighthouse at the St. Marks Wildlife Refuge near Tallahassee, Florida (3 hour drive one way) which is west of Jacksonville.

It is truly amazing to watch birds fly high or low in the sky. The aerial show they put on for us humans is an absolute necessity for their survival. This week we showcased birds with long wingspans.

Bird Weekly Round-Up #26

Last week’s challenge was more about learning new ways to do things in WordPress using a color and monochrome photo. The birds were just a bonus and since it is Bird Weekly, still the focus of our little world.

Last week’s birds were inspired by our American Thanksgiving. Happy Thanksgiving to all who celebrated yesterday! I didn’t eat turkey which is tradition.

Last week we had shore birds and this week we have long legged birds. Sometimes the species that were shared last week are the same as this week. A long legged bird can certainly be and is often considered a shore bird as well.
