This week Jim Adams has prompted us with choosing a song pertaining to Endless | Eternity | Everlasting | Forever | Infinity | Omega for this week’s Song Lyric Sunday. I chose “Where No One Stands Alone” by Elvis Presley and Lisa Marie Presley.
When I started thinking about infinity and forever, I began wondering where I will go after my life on this earth is over. I certainly believe in a heaven, a place where we can spend eternity and be with our loved ones that have passed before us. I can’t say I’m a religious person, but I am very spiritual.
This thought took me to the King and his gospel efforts! Did you know that the only Grammy won by Elvis Presley was for his gospel albums. He received 14 Grammy nominations and won 3 for “How Great Thou Art”, “He Touched Me” and his live recording of “How Great Thou Art”. He also was the recipient of the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1971.
Once I stood in the night With my head bowed low In the darkness as black as could be And my heart felt alone and I cried, "Oh Lord Don't hide your face from me" Like a king, I may live in a palace so tall With great riches to call my own But I don't know a thing In this whole wide world That's worse than being alone Hold my hand all the way, every hour, every day Come here to the great unknown Take my hand, let me stand Where no-one stands alone Take my hand, let me stand Where no-one stands alone Source: Musixmatch Songwriters: Mosie Lister
Nice music Lisa, but I don’t think your song contains any of the prompt words.

It doesn’t. I went out of the box this week because this song is about not walking alone when you get to heaven. Heaven is a synonym for eternity and forever. Hope I didn’t get too far out there. π

I agree and I am happy that you were able to find something, as I thought these prompt words be very difficult. In the rules it says that you don’t have to choose a song that contains the prompt words, but I enjoy checking for them. There are some people who won’t end up spending eternity in heaven.

Thanks Jim. I’m glad you do because some song selections don’t make sense at all for the prompts. You are right about Heaven. Guess I could have done Highway to Hell. I haven’t read everyone’s blogs yet so not sure if it was in the mix. LOL! π

Awesome, Lisa, addressing the challenge with some very creative out-of-the-box thinking. Kudos!!! Nevertheless, for those who also would like to see some in-the-box related responses to the challenge the following weblink provides a duet sung by Merle Haggard and Bonnie Owens. Sadly, though they sung about being together forever things didn’t mesh with them long enough to realize for eternity the words of the song.

Thanks Skip. I was in an Elvis gospel mood yesterday! LOL! Merle and Bonnie would have been a good one to do. π

Thanks Willow. I had to give Heaven a haircut this morning. Took me 2 hours. She is getting harder the older she gets. I instructed Alexa to play Elvis gospel while I groomed her. Kept me calm without losing my patience with her. π

Thank you Jacquie! When I first heard it in 2018 on the Elvis channel, Sirius XM, I cried in my car. π

nice song choice. I did not know those facts about Elvis and his Grammy wins. seems odd that he won so few…

I love the song especially with Lisa dubbed in. Elvis was before his time and paved a way for the progression of music. If he had written his own songs, he may have won more grammys, but he hired songwriters like Mac Davis. π

That makes sense about Elvis not writing his own songs, but he knew how to find some good writers!

He sure did plus he was the king of covering other songs that other artists had already made popular. He could sing the phone book and Iβd love it. π₯°
