Grapevine is rich in steam engine history and main street is like a blast from the past. It has gotten way too commercial for my taste. It was incredible when I lived there in the 80’s and not as many people. Now it is a huge tourist attraction and I hate driving down Main. If you know the town, my old hangout in high school was Willhoites and I was 18 as a senior (legal drinking age at that time). Six years ago when my mom passed away, I took my daughter to Willhoites to toast my mom and show my daughter a little piece of my past. Since the Botanical Gardens is down several blocks, it isn’t as congested as it is up on Main Street and a must stop for me when I visit.
I live in Florida but I am a Texan, born and bred. I graduated at Grapevine High School in 1984 and my mom and aunt lived there, just a few blocks from the park until my mom’s passing in 2014 and my aunt’s passing in 2018. I haven’t been back in 2 years. Most of my family lives in Texas. Are you in Texas?

Nope. I’m a rail fan from Massachusetts…and a poet!

Itβs been a long time since Iβve been to Boston. Would love to go to a baseball game there. Maybe someday. π
