This week Jim Adams has prompted us with Listen/Hear/Talk/Speak for this weeks Song Lyric Sunday. I chose a very commercially successful song from 1994 that seems to fit the prompt. Seeing how, this is a provocative conversation between a woman and a man. What a sexy tune!
Boys II Men are a R&B & Hip Hop Group from Philadelphia, PA who are well known for their harmonies. They were originally a quartet who was successful under the Motown label in the 1990’s. Michael McCary left the group in 2003 due to multiple sclerosis. The three remaining group members are Nathan Morris, Wanya Morris and Shawn Stockman.
Over their 25 year career, they have 4 Grammys, 9 American Music Awards, 9 Soul Train Awards, 3 Billboard Awards, 2011 MOBO Award for Outstanding Contribution to Music. They have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and have won a Casino Entertainment Award for their residency at the Mirage Resort and Casino in Las Vegas where they have performed since 2013.
February 29th is a special day since it only happens once every four years. Yesterday was no exception. It is a day that being at the “right place at the right time” matters! What a surprise it was!
I went on an unplanned road trip with my friend Nicole to Tallahassee, FL to meet up with her husband and daughter who were attending the Florida Regional Wrestling Championships. When we got off the interstate, we stopped for pizza and then ran some of my errands. Once we were finished, we were heading to Lawton Chiles High School.
While stopped at a light in Thomasville, FL, Nicole said, “Meet Boys II Men today from 1pm-2:30pm”. I said, “What?”. Then I saw what she was reading and I read the message on the digital sign in front of the ABC Liquor store across from the light. I thought I was misreading it or something. We made a U-turn and went to check it out. We got our hand stamped, I bought a bottle of Harmony Rose’ and we got in line. It was 12:50. At 1:04, they announced they wouldn’t be there for 15 more minutes. Nicole was not feeling well, so we got out line to leave. One of the security guys encouraged me to come back and he would get me back in line so I wouldn’t have to go to the end.
After I dropped Nicole off at the high school, I went back to ABC Liquors and, sure enough, there they were promoting their new wine, “Harmony”. Brilliant name for their label!
I found the guy who I had talked to earlier and he took me straight to the front of the line. Talk about VIP status! I apologized to the people that I cut in front of explaining how we had been there before. They were very nice and understood. Then I got my photo taken, shook hands, left the building and got on the road back to Jacksonville.
This is in the top 10 coolest things that has ever happened to me.
Fun Facts about the Song:
Close your eyes, make a wish And blow out the candlelight For tonight is just your night We're gonna celebrate, All through the night Pour the wine, light the fire Girl your wish is my command I submit to your demands I will do anything, Girl you need only ask I'll make love to you Like you want me to And I'll hold you tight Baby all through the night I'll make love to you When you want me to And I will not let go Till you tell me to Girl relax, let's go slow I ain't got nowhere to go I'm just gonna concentrate on you Girl are you ready? It's gonna be a long night Throw your clothes on the floor I'm gonna take my clothes off too I made plans to be with you Girl whatever you ask me you know I can do I'll make love to you Like you want me to And I'll hold you tight Baby all through the night I'll make love to you When you want me to And I will not let go Till you tell me to Baby tonight is your night And I will do you right Just make a wish on your night Anything that you ask I will give you the love of your life I'll make love to you Like you want me to And I'll hold you tight Baby all through the night I'll make love to you When you want me to And I will not let go Till you tell me to I'll make love to you Like you want me to And I'll hold you tight Baby all through the night I'll make love to you When you want me to And I will not let go Till you tell me to Source: LyricFind Songwriters: Kenneth Edmonds / Kenneth B Edmonds I'll Make Love To You lyrics © Sony/ATV Music Publishing LLC
