This week forΒ Song Lyric Sunday,Β Jim Adams has prompted us with Cowboy/Gun/Hat/Horse/Western. There were so many to choose from…OMG! This country girl from Texas, transplanted Floridian had a tough time choosing. I had to go with the Singing Cowboy from Texas! When I was a kid, my grand-parents would play country music from the old transistor radio. Gene Autry, Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn, Conway Twitty, Little Jimmy Dickens, among others would come scratching through the small speaker. It’s my roots! Happy Trails to you….oh that’s another cowboy & his wife for another day.
Lyrics
I'm back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again
Ridin' the range once more
Totin' my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-oh
Rockin' to and fro
back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-yay
I go my way
Back in the saddle again
I'm back in the saddle again
Out where a friend is a friend
Where the longhorn cattle feed
On the lowly gypsum weed
Back in the saddle again
Ridin' the range once more
Totin' my old .44
Where you sleep out every night
And the only law is right
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-oh
Rockin' to and fro
Back in the saddle again
Whoopi-ty-aye-yay
I go my way
Back in the saddle again

I confused of why it’s a video of Johnny Cash and not Gene Autry…..Two great singers with different styles.

Try it again. Refresh if you have to. It was a computer glitch. It kept refreshing with someone new. I just got Roy Rogers.

I love this music too! I started listening to it when we lived in Cowboy country in Central California when I was about 8. Great selection for today’s challenge!

Yes indeed, Happy Trails!!! I have a Christmas tree ornament that I leave out on a bookshelf year-round, it reads: “All My Heroes Are Cowboys” π My cousin lives in Texas, and I lived in both Houston and Dallas, at different times.

Love that. Iβve lived in many places but home is Texas & Florida. You can take the girl out of the country, but canβt take the country out of the girl.

Thanks Lisa, this song was good to hear again. Your pingback went to last week’s prompt and it should have gone here.

I fixed it. Is there anyway to get the link ahead of time for the pingback? I have to write weeks in advance because of my full-time work schedule. I seem to be spending my weekends writing & scheduling my posts. If not, I will need to make sure I change it on Saturdays. I’m going to get this down at some point. π

The link will always start off with “https://jimadamsauthordotcom.wordpress.com/” followed by the date and then the title that I use for the post. I don’t know what the title will be till I write it, but I usually post it on Saturday at 10 PM Eastern time. I guess you just need to wait and see.

My dad would sing this song every time he got a new car.

The Sons of the Pioneers are my favorite western singers. I had a crush on Roy Rogers who got his start with them. πβπ΅
