Sunday Stills – Happy Place – 10.18.20

Frank & I taking a selfie with Trout Lake as our backdrop.

My happy place is being outside in nature with my hubby, Frank! I’m also happy when I’m with my kids and grandkids but haven’t seen 2 of my 3 kids and none of my grandkids since January of this year due to the pandemic. I get to Facetime with them, but that is it. So for this challenge, I will stick to what I do when I can’t be with them physically.

Sunday Stills – Fall Color Ochre – 10.11.20

Story Mill Community Park in Bozeman, MT in September, 2019.

The feature image is the best and only photo I have of signs of fall. It was taken last September in Bozeman, Montana. In Florida, we don’t get the change with the red, orange & yellow until January when much of the rest of… Continue Reading “Sunday Stills – Fall Color Ochre – 10.11.20”

Sunday Stills – Dry – 10.04.20

Nevada Desert outside Las Vegas at sunset.

Artist Palette is on the face of the Black Mountains in Death Valley National Park. The colors are caused by oxidation of different metals, but it looks like an artist took a paintbrush to it. Artist’s Drive is 9 miles one way with curvy roads and towering mountains on either side.

Sunday Stills – Droplets – 9.27.20

Brown Pelican taking off in the St. Johns River.

This post is in response to TERRI WEBSTER SCHRANDT Sunday Stills challenge. The theme this week is Water Droplets.

Living in the Moment – West Side of Yellowstone

So, here is the continuation of our “Living in the Moment” series from last September. All the “Living in the Moment” posts are at the bottom of this post if you want to catch up.

Sunday Stills – Orange

Cauldron of Fire where a skeleton is sacrificing another skeleton's head at Halloween.

Moving into Fall (my favorite season), Halloween will be here soon. Next to Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday. We usually go all out and have a massive display of goons and ghouls with purple and orange lights flashing down our walkway for trick-or-treaters to scamper up the path if they dare! This year, it is not going to happen.

Sunday Stills – Winter Snow – nonexistent

Backside of the Grand Tetons heading up to the Grand Targhee Ski Resort.

Since I live in Florida, Winter and Snow are not in my vocabulary. In Jacksonville, it will get chilly and we will even have freezing temperatures on some nights from January-March. It’s rare we have a hard freeze. A hard freeze is temperatures that dip below 28-30 degrees fahrenheit for several days. That never happens here.

Sunday Stills – Nature – East vs. West

Eastern Swallowtail Butterfly

Nature is a broad realm of the natural, physical and material things existing in our world and/or universe. It is a wide spectrum of living and non-living entities. For me, it is all about wildlife and the planet we call home. There is so much to explore that we can’t see it all in a lifetime, but I can share a few things that I have experienced in my few years on Earth.

FOTD – Night Blooming Cereus

It has been 2 years since we have seen a flower, but we haven’t stayed up all night to wait for one either. This one was still in full bloom by the morning 2 years ago, making it the last flower we have seen from this plant. Rare capture!
