The feature image is the best veggie sandwich on the planet. Fresh Italian bread, cream cheese (instead of mayo), cucumbers, spring mix lettuce, carrots, cherry tomatoes and avocado. Add a little salt and pepper and viola! YUM YUM! We had a picnic after birding all morning at Okefenokee National Wildlife Refuge in Folkston, Georgia.

The feature image is a pair of Great Black-backed Gulls at Little Talbot Island State Park. You can’t tell in this photo but one of the differences in the Lesser and Great Black-backed Gulls is the Great has pink legs whereas the Lesser has yellowish colored legs. The Lesser is smaller, but unless they are together, it is hard to distinguish without looking at the legs.

The feature image was taken at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. Female elk were climbing the formations in search for heat from the thermals. Hot water was falling from the top.

Every month the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum has a Sunset/Moonrise Tour where only a few can climb the 219 step cylinder lighthouse. It is $30.00 per person and well worth going up there and having a chance to watch the sunset and the moon rise in the same night.

I visited Tree Hill Nature Center in Jacksonville, Florida about a week ago to primarily to do some birding with Frank. There were loads of birds out, the temperature was mild for a change and we were outside not sweating. Tree HIll is a nature preserve that I will write about in a future post. It is deserving to have its own spotlight and is the home to several goats, chickens, an alligator and a Barred Owl.

I wanted to give you images of the largest fountain I’ve ever seen and which is the fountain at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. We didn’t take any photos, but plenty of video. If you have never seen them, I would encourage you to make a point to see them one night if you get to Vegas. The fountains dance to whatever music they have playing. It’s free as you just stop along the sidewalk and enjoy the show at night.
