Bird Weekly Round-Up – Week #17

Week #17 challenge was Macro/Close Up shots of birds.

Disclaimer: If anyone has an issue with me using their photos in the round ups, please kindly let me know. I haven’t had anyone say anything, but I don’t want you to think I’m using your photographs for personal gain. I’m here to show what great work you are doing with your photography by showing you off in these posts.

Y’all are making it hard for me to choose a bird of the week so I’m not going to but will showcase one bird from each blogger. We had a record 16 entries plus mine this week! Woohoo! Everyone is getting a showcase this week! As Oprah would say…”You get a bird”….You get a bird”….You get a bird”! I suppose that could be a bad thing too if one used their hand gestures. LOL!

I love the close up shots. It has become one of my trademarks, if I had such a thing. The first set of participants seem to have the need to fill their empty stomachs. How can something that small eat something that large? At least the gull doesn’t eat his prey whole. The rest of these wading birds do.

Then we have an array of blues and greens here. Well, Joanne’s Mallard is in black and white, but if it was in color, we would be seeing a green head.

Owl be checking you out while you check me out!

It’s all in the eyes! The eyes are the pathway to one’s soul. Just look at these beautiful specimen! I think the developers at Angry Birds may have come across these guys a time or two for inspiration. The Hornbill didn’t even have to use mascara to have lashes like that!

I encourage you to visit their blogs and see what amazing things they have going on. If I missed your post or there was a problem with a pingback, please let me know and I will be glad to add you to the list. Remember to pingback from my post of that week and not my page. Liking my page is encouraged!

Next up: Week #18: Birds starting with an “A” in any part of their name like “American Robin or Smooth-billed Ani”. I will get this out as soon as I can today. I’m a little under the weather. Developed a sore throat 2 days ago and it hasn’t gone away. No fever, but just not feeling myself. See ya in a bit!

I look forward to seeing your creations this week!

  1. The birds are wonderful! You selected a wonderful variety to showcase from the offerings.

That’s how the Head-cold I got two weeks ago started…a sore throat. I’m still coughing a little and my nose still plugs up, but I’m on the tail-end of it now. I’ve been checking my temperature daily. No fever with this cold. I hope you feel better soon!

    • Sorry you missed it! Thanks for the confidence boost on the photo selections. I got a little worried over legal rights, etc. I’m not going to take anyone’s photos & claim them as my own or sell them. Not my way, but I love what everyone is sharing and what to share it more. πŸ™‚

  2. So right, Lisa, about “It’s all in the eyes.” Willie Nelson feels the same way when singing a related song from his “Honeysuckle Rose” album. Enjoy the tune at the web link.

    • Yeah, well, I was inspired and couldn’t choose a bird of the week. Everyone had something quite special as they do every week and I just wanted to show it off! πŸ™‚

  3. Great round-up, Lisa, some of those close-ups (owl’s face) are incredible! I appreciate you doing the round-up and I’m fine with showcasing the images. Reminds me of the thumbnails for the old Weekly photo challenge. Hope you feel better, I, too, that little tickle at the back of my throat. Did you know the common cold is part of the coronavirus family? Not the Covid kind but it has a corona shaped cell.

    • Great about the images and wasn’t around back during the old weekly challenge or I didn’t know about it. I’ve only been blogging for a little over a year. Not sure I will do that every week but I had no decision on a bird this week. I did know the cold is a corona virus. It and the flu kills plenty of humans every year but nothing like what COVID19 has done & will continue to do until we find a way to destroy it or vaccinate against it. I hope you feel better soon too. I’m sleeping in tomorrow but it’s going to be hard. Tampa Bay Rays just beat the Yankees & are heading to the AL Championship game. I’m over the moon!!! ⚾️😊😎
