SQUARE TOPS – TOP OF THE Bridge – Sunshine Skyway Bridge

Opening in 1987, The Sunshine Skyway Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge spanning Lower Tampa Bay that connects St. Petersburg to Terra Ceia, Florida. The bridge carries Interstate 275 and U.S. Route 19. This four-lane highway passes through Pinellas County, Hillsborough County and Manatee County and is a toll road. This massive bridge was replaced by the original Sunshine Skyway Bridge, built in 1954 that was disassembled beginning in 1990. You can read the interesting history of both bridges here.
