Oct. 17 – Are You Square? Lines & Square Challenge – Lighthouses

Thank you to Becky for hosting this awesome challenge.

For Life of B’s October “Are You Square” Challenge

I collected lighthouses for many years and have quite a few novelty items and some collectables. I downsized a couple of years ago by selling off about 1/2 of my stock. I kept a few of them and have them scattered throughout my house. I thought I would share some photos of a few of them that reminded me that lines are everywhere even on a cylinder shaped object. Hope you enjoy an open-mind interpretation of Lines and Squares.

The image (top) is my lighthouse made from wine corks. This hangs in my guest bathroom. It was made by a local craftsman.

Novelty lighthouse made of wood & has drawers.
These lines are not so straight, but it’s cool. They are drawers.
Painted lighthouse
Part of painted art on a screen. No, I didn’t paint this.
Framed print of St. Augustine Lighthouse, Florida
Print of St. Augustine Lighthouse, St. Augustine, FL
Framed sepia print of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, North Carolina
Sepia tone print of Cape Hatteras Lighthouse, NC. The original lighthouse.
Printed lighthouse quilt.
Prints on a quilt my friend made me years ago. Not part of the downsize!

    • oops I meant to say coming up oblong!! It’s not that I dislike oblongs with their unequal adjacent sides, but this challenge is all about square photography. If you can make one of your lighthouses square that be amazing 🙂

    • I was tired last night. Worked late & did this when I probably shouldn’t have. I added the wrong images. I will replace & correct this evening when I get home from work. My apologies!

  1. That’s a cool collection! I love the wine cork one and the St. Augustine one. I’ve actually been to that lighthouse!

I have been saving wine corks…the real ones not the new rubber ones for years with idea of creating something with them. That lighthouse is wonderful and would be neat in my hall bathroom as it’s a beach theme. I have no idea how to make one, but it sure is neat.

    • It’s only a small sampling of what I have. I love the St. Augustine Lighthouse. Climbed it many times. Maybe you can use the cork image as a guide or pattern to make yours. I don’t know how he did it either. Old corks would be awesome as it would give it a more rustic look.
