This part of Death Valley is 282 feet (85.5 meters) below sea level. We were only part of the way down towards the bottom.
The feature image was taken at Mammoth Hot Springs in Yellowstone National Park. Female elk were climbing the formations in search for heat from the thermals. Hot water was falling from the top.
This photo was taken from my window seat from O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois
Just before take-off, you could start to see a shimmer of light on the horizon.
