Song Lyric Sunday – Hello

I went outside the box on the theme this week and chose “Hello” by Lionel Richie and Adele. The same title, two completely different song melody and lyrics. Each song was written by their singer, respectively. Not feeling well today so this will be short & sweet.

Song Lyric Sunday – “If I knew You Were Comin’ I’d’ve Baked A Cake”

I chose “If I Knew You Were Comin’ I’d’ve Baked a Cake performed by Ernie for Cookie Monster on the first episode of Sesame Street in 1950. Let me know if you think Ernie added a little too much baking powder.

Song Lyric Sunday – “Back to Earth” By Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard

There is no denying WIllie’s guitar and these lyrics fit so well with the mood of his melody.

Song Lyric Sunday – “The Great Pretender” by The Platters

With Tony Williams on lead vocals, “The Great Pretender”, written by Buck Ram in about 20 minutes in the washroom of the Flamingo Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada became the groups first national #1 hit. He was needing a follow up song to “Only You”. Ram was the manager and producer of The Platters and had been a successful songwriter before making the move into management and production.

Song Lyric Sunday – “I Melt” by Rascal Flatts

One night DeMarcus & LeVox were working in a Printer’s Alley nightclub when their part-time guitarist couldn’t make it one night. DeMarcus invited Rooney to join them. A bond was instantly formed!

Song Lyric Sunday – “My Maria” by Brooks & Dunn

I had the honor of meeting Brooks & Dunn in 1993 after my first husband won front-row tickets with “Meet & Greet” backstage passes.

Song Lyric Sunday – “One Tin Soldier”

“One Tin Soldier” came out during the Vietnam War when there were anti-war protests spreading peace and love. The lyrics tell the story of two neighboring tribes, the warlike Valley People & the peaceful Mountain Kingdom.

SLS – “Big Iron” By Marty Robbins

Let’s see if this inspires you to get up and dance! I’ll be exercising with my hula hoop shortly and “Peppermint Twist” is on my playlist.

SLS – “Peppermint Twist” By Joey Dee & The Starliters

Let’s see if this inspires you to get up and dance! I’ll be exercising with my hula hoop shortly and “Peppermint Twist” is on my playlist.

SLS – “I Don’t Want This Night To end” By Luke Bryan

Luke has had a string of hits (23) as of this post and continues to put out new music. In 2013, Luke was named “Entertainer of the Year” by both the Academy of Country Music Awards (ACM) and the Country Music Association (CMA). The two most prestigious awards in country music and the top honor for both.
