SQUARES – Up in Heaven

Baby Aniya who is up in Heaven.

This is Aniya Kay Sweat. She would be 12 now. She became an angel up in Heaven on 1/24/2009. She was my second grandchild born to my middle child. Aniya passed away due to Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). She was 34 days old. Please don’t be sad that I posted this. I’m not looking for sympathy but more to honor her memory and remind everyone to love those around you because you just never know when our time is up. RIP sweet angel!

Sisters!

Sisters! Leigha (on the left) was 3 at the time and she is about to be Sweet 16 in June. She doesn’t remember her sister except for what we’ve told her.

  1. This is very poignant for me as my younger daughter has just given birth to her first child. How very hard this must have been for you all. Sending positive thoughts, as even though this was now a long time ago, I’m sure she’s often in your own thoughts.

    • Congratulations on the new grandchild. I have 4 living grandchildren. There have been 2 that have died. The same daughter had a stillborn in 2019 but we knew the baby had a rare disease. My daughter has her hands full with 3 other girls. They are 15, 9, 6. My son has the only grandson. Then I have a granddog named Memphis who has his own Instagram. LOL! Despite all the heartache, we are quite blessed! 🙂

      • Your daughter must be a tough cookie to come through so much heartache. So glad she has a vibrant family notwithstanding. Granddog? Whatever next?

      • Yeah my daughter is a tough cookie! Yes, a granddog. My youngest may or may not have kids but she has a 100 pound (45 kg) chocolate lab. He is as big as a medium sized child. I was that size at 18 when I joined the military. LOL! 🙂

    • Thank you Becky! I was afraid it was too sad to put on squares, but I was going to write a memorial blog for her anyway. I see her personality somewhere between the oldest and the one younger than her. At least that is how it goes in my mind. 🙂 Thanks for the love! 🙂

      • Yes and I didn’t really get to know her. I saw her for 3 days from birth and I went back to Jacksonville. She died 31 days after I saw her last. My daughter, of course had already started to see her personality. I have my imagination and those short few days. I have over 400 photos of her in those first days. They were the majority of the photos for her funeral which I put together the slideshow. Thank goodness I’m a photographer and a spastic one at that. 🙂 Being busy and doing the slideshow kept me focused during that horrible week.

      • Awe…I wouldn’t expect anyone to be able to imagine it and that no one goes through it. People do and some carry on and some don’t. My daughter went down a dark path for 8-9 years. She has only had her life back together in the past 7 years which is a blessing in itself. 🙂
