The feature image is a collage of leaves I put together from my backyard. There is no real colors on the trees so I thought I would put together my own little fall color set.
This post is in response to TERRI WEBSTER SCHRANDT Sunday Stills challenge. The theme this week is Leaves.
This week we are paying homage to leaves. They can be all colors depending on the season and the type of tree or plant in which they provide growth. I will give you an array of leaves, some taken today.
Lucky for this little Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, the oak leaves had fallen and provided a soft landing for his departure out of the nest due to gusty winds. It was quite windy this day 5 years ago at the University of North Florida when we were there hiking and birding and found him. We took him home and fed him for 2 days until we could have BEAKS pick him up at the animal shelter. The trees were too tall for us to put him back in the nest…just wasn’t an option. He survived and was released a few weeks later!

This is our Fica Tree that is in a large pot next to the fountain in the backyard. The birds love it as they will fly from the oak trees to this tree, look around to make sure the coast is clear and fly onto the fountain for water or a bath. The one on the left was taken yesterday, the one on the right was taken today.
The oak leaves have started to fall to the ground in our backyard. The sun was peeking through the trees yesterday morning, but today it has been raining.
Thanksgiving is a time for joy and happiness. It is a time for us to be thankful for everyone we love and the blessings we have. Every year my theme is leaves. Every year, I decorate with the same items. Saves money that way! From my placemats to coasters, my table is festive for only Frank and me most years. This is why we usually take a trip for a few days to go birding. Not sure it will happen this year because of the pandemic and the numbers keep rising every day in Florida.

Thanks! It will become the base of my Christmas village in less than a month. 🙂 I have another leaf to put in making it very long. I’m excited for Christmas this year even though it will just be Frank & me. My friend may come back to see us. 🙂 BTW…I have some Christmas stamps up now.

You’re not the only one who decorates for Fall with silk arrangements, Lisa! (Except this year for me). What a darling gnatcatcher! You saved him and he got a second chance! A cool shot of him hanging out in the leaves! The raindrops on the green leaves look so refreshing!

Thanks Terri! Glad to know I’m not the only one. It’s the only way I will get it. Soon that table will have another leaf (pun intended) and it will become the main part of them Christmas village. The whole table, plus an extra built in plywood table, the sideboard & another small portable table. It gets bigger and bigger every year. 🙂
