This is my dad, Lester. He passed away from Alzheimer’s on this day, 5 years ago. He was an avid fisherman and could fry up some of the best bass, crappie and catfish of anyone I knew. Strangely enough, he would not share his recipe and took it to his grave.

I know. I think my uncle may have an idea so I will ask him next time I talk to him. Thank you Michelle. My mom was 6 years on the 9th and my dad 5 years today. They divorced when I was 10 so it was bizarre how their passing was so close a year a part. 😊

I love the picture of him. You can tell he had spirit and may that spirit embrace you every time you think of him.

It is a hard disease. He went from paying his own bills in September, 2014 to an infant by July, 2015. And all the stages in between. Teenager, child, toddler and infant at the end. He was a text-book case. It was so fast which was a blessing in itself. Hugs back! 🙂

The hardest part was he was in Hawaii and I’m in Florida. I lived it over the phone when they needed me to talk him down from whatever set off his mood. Strangely enough, I was in his head and was able to diffuse the situation every time. Those episodes told me where he was at. I have zero experience with the disease other than what happened to him across the miles. Somehow, I just knew what to do. That in itself was a blessing! 🙂

It’s because you had such a bond. So the connection was strong, and he knew to listen to you. What a special blessing that is. ❤️

Yeah, I suppose so! I’m not really a fisherman or fisherperson. Skipped right over me and to my son & grandson. They are excellent fishermen. I love to eat it though! Especially white flaky fish like Maui Maui, Flounder, Cod and even Tilapia. But get me back to Texas and I prefer bass to crappie & catfish, but I will will eat those too. 🙂

I do remember enjoying white flaky fish, but I liked blackened catfish and salmon as well…

I liked fish as a kid and then couldn’t stand it as an adult. All fish except canned tuna or albacore. I had to have me gall bladder removed several years ago and now I love fish again. Can’t eat chicken or port now. Strange how that happens! There are other foods like that too. I didn’t like tomatoes or avocado and now I love them…especially guacamole. Strange!!! 🙂

that is quite strange; who knew that removing your gall bladder could have such an impact!
