On June 12, 2020, Bird Weekly was launched into the blog world. Since then, we have seen some incredible birds from all over the world. I find this to be a fun and rewarding challenge. I want to thank all my followers for all their wonderful comments. Thank you to all the contributors who make this possible.
Please visit the Bird Weekly page to find out more if you are new to what this is all about.
On Thursday, June 17th, I will be having foot surgery. In my absence, Sarah with Travel with Me will be the guest host for Bird Weekly #52 – Birds with long tail feathers (6/18/21). Please visit her blog to find her Bird Weekly Challenge post when the time comes and set your pingback to her post. I will link her post to my page when I can get out of my fog.
I will be doing the Roundup for this week, Week #51 Birds with stripes, spots or freckles (6/11/21). Whoever has their posts in by Wednesday afternoon 6/16, I will include for the roundup post on Friday. If you post later than that, I will add you when I’m back up at the computer on Friday or Saturday. I just don’t know how the recovery will be or how I will feel.
If you haven’t ever participated in this challenge and you photograph birds as a hobby, I invite you to join!
Happy Birding and I look forward to another year! You guys rock!
Happy Blogiversary to Bird Weekly!! I’ll be keeping you in my thoughts and hope the surgery goes perfectly and you have a speedy and full recovery!! 🥰

Thank you Deborah on both accounts. I hope to keep my attitude in check throughout this recovery. I’ve been cooped up all spring and now will be all summer. But, oh how I look forward to fall and being healed! 🙂

I am hoping you’re right as rain by Fall/Winter so you can have some great birding to welcome you back to walking/hiking. 💕

Bird Weekly says thank you! I say thank you as well. I hope it goes well. I found out the Chief of Surgery is doing the surgery. I’m not sure if that makes me feel any better because it is more serious than anyone thought. 🙂

I wish there was cake! I have some carrot cake cupcakes in the freezer. I should have thought of that. My brain isn’t working 100%. LOL! Like it ever does anyway….hehehe! Thanks for the vote of confidence! I honestly can’t wait to get back out to take new bird pics. 🙂

I would like to meet the person who saw a carrot and said “wow that would make a nice cake!” Not a fan at all, same as zucchini cake :p

Carrot cake is my favorite dessert! I love cinnamon and I put pecans instead of walnuts in mine. It has to have a cream cheese/whipped cream frosting to top it off though. 🙂 I’m not a fan of zucchini either.

Still not convinced. Maybe heated and ice cream but…..

Thank you Terri! I appreciate it very much! Bird Weekly thanks you! Sarah has a great deal of knowledge too and she can weave the words for an interesting post. I have photos for the challenge, but I will take a wait and see approach. 🙂

Thanks I. J.! A year in the blink of an eye. Here is to another year of birds! I’m looking forward to getting back out on the trail in a few months. At least I have loads of archives during my recovery. 🙂

Bird Weekly thanks you on all accounts. I know you will do a fine job! I’m putting some photos together now so maybe this weekend I can do a post and link to your Bird Weekly. I found some in my archives today when looking for Sunday Stills. Thank you again for taking that pressure off of me. I look forward to seeing you post once I’m awake. LOL! 🙂

Thanks on both accounts Jim. I’m ready to get back outside. This has been mentally hard and more than when the pandemic hit. At least the Wildlife Refuges stayed open last year. Staying inside is not a fun feet (feat) for me. LOL! 🙂

I am sure you are chomping at the bit to get outside…it will make you appreciate it even more when you can…

You got that right! I was excited to get out of the house to go to the VA today to do my pre-op. Just plain SAD! LOL! 🙂

I look forward to fall! Halloween is my favorite holiday besides Christmas so there is that. It will be better to go hike and birding when it cools off anyway. After I get my stitches out and I heal a bit, I might be able to go to the beach. They have a wheelchair out there, so Frank can push me out there. LOL! 🙂

I guess looking forward to things you enjoy helps keep you upbeat about the surgery…

Absolutely! I’ve been out of it for a week but am getting myself back to a bit of normal. Still limited on how long I can be up and going but getting better everyday. 🙂

Thanks Jim. Finally able to stay up at the computer for a few hours in a row. All about time. The older we get, the longer it takes. 😊

Thank you Sarah. I’m having some pain and discomfort now. I’m off the pain pills and just taking an anti-inflammatory. I got the podiatrist tomorrow to have the bandages changed. Hopefully, he says it looks good. 🙂

I’m not liking the ‘pain and discomfort’ but the fact that you sound like you’re making good progress!

Thanks Sarah. Getting my strength back to where I can be up longer has been mind boggling. Guess the older you get, the longer it takes. The pain & discomfort is getting less every day. 😊
