Cee’s Black & White Photo Challenge

The feature image shows concrete steps built into the Azalea Gardens at Ravines Garden State Park in Palatka, Florida. A spring-fed creek is one of the beautiful attractions. March and April are the best times to visit the park when the Azaleas reach their peak bloom (most years). There have been late freezes some years and torrential thunderstorms other years that have frozen or damaged the buds. The website keeps everyone up-to-date on the progress of the blooms. As of this blog, they are at 20-25% bloomed.

    I may have mentioned this before, and we have some azaleas in our front year. They look beautiful for a couple of months, but then the rest of the year they do nothing for me.

      That is the way of azaleas. Short-lived but gorgeous when they are in bloom. Our azaleas have finally died of disease and old age. They were planted by Frank’s mom in the 1960’s. Sad to see them go. Frank babied them for as long as he could.

        to be honest, I wouldn’t mind digging ours up and replacing them with someone that looks nicer all year. But my wife won’t let me… 🙂

        Happy wife, happy life! I don’t have much say in yard. Frank takes care of it because of my allergies. If I want something and it is drought resistant, he will consider putting it in. 🙂

        Me too! I’d rather be birding than gardening. Frank is great at it. Works out good for me so I don’t get too pushy with what he wants to do. 🙂
