SQUARES – Four of a Kind

Every year the United States Navy Blue Angels come into Jacksonville for a couple of air shows. We haven’t been since 2009, but we see them fly over our house during training. These photos were taken with my old Nikon D50 that had a bad sensor at the time. They turned out pretty darn good considering my dilemma. I’ve had two more cameras since this time. I would love to go again in the near future to shoot with my Sony & full frame lens that I have now which is far superior. The next show in Jacksonville is scheduled for April 11, 2021 and I hope we are able to go.

The Blue Angels is celebrating their 74th anniversary this year and the 34th year flying the Boeing F/A-18 Hornet seen in these photos. The Blue Angels have performed for nearly 500 million fans since 1946. In 2015, the first female Blue Angel pilot, U.S. Marine Captain Katie Higgins was selected to pilot the Blue Angels’ Lockheed Martin C-130T Hercules transport aircraft. 2. You sure did a great job, Lisa, of capturing the awesome wonder of the Blue Angels in flight. No matter the vast number of years I’ve been around military aircraft, when the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds perform it’s like seeing them for the first time. Every show is new and exciting.

    • Thanks Skip! What they do is so amazing and I’m usually pretty stressed out watching them. I probably would be less stressed in the cockpit in control than watching from the ground. LOL! πŸ™‚

  3. When I lived in Seattle, they used to fly over downtown almost at eye level practicing for a summer festival appearance each year. It was amazing to see them. They did set off lot of car alarms though. πŸ™‚

    • Oh, that would have been awesome to see in Seattle! They flew low a few times at the beach which is one of the places they perform. To see them just over the water is amazing! πŸ™‚
