I live in Jacksonville, FL. I am graphic designer, writer, photographer and published author. I am now taking those passions & putting them into a blog. I love birds & consider myself a “more than average” birder. I have 3 grown children & 7 grand children plus a grandchild dog named Memphis. I’m married to my soul mate and we have a dog named Heaven. We love to travel & get out somewhere most weekends.

Went to the Okefenokee Swamp on the Georgia side as a teenager. Nice to see these wonderful pictures! ๐

We are about an hour from the entrance. It is on the list of regular parks we frequent. Just waiting on some cooler weather to go back.

What a treat! Iโd wait on the weather too, lol. That midday Southern heat can be stultifying. ๐

Yes mam! Not to mention the bugs! The bugs would eat us alive or chase us out after they have snacked on us! ๐

Just sad to think about how it became that way though. At least what it becomes is quite beautiful. ๐

Beautiful walk way and sitting area. My favorite is the dead tree “growing” out of the sand with the blue sky.

Thank you so much! It is a beautiful site, but it unfortunately is also sad. We are losing so much land to erosion year after year. The salt water continues to encroach upon centuries old vegetation. ๐ I suspect within 10-20 years, the coastline will be where the highway is right now if we don’t do something about climate change and because of a man-made breakwater built for the wealthy people on Amelia Island, the storms have ravished our State Parks. Ugh! ๐
