Sunday Stills – Night – 01.10.21

The feature image is our house for Christmas 2020. Frank puts together the outside while I put together the inside. We had a nice visit with my BFF & her husband in December. It was the first time they had visited for Christmas so they got to see our display that takes about 2 weeks to put up.

Frank got “Best House” for our area in our neighborhood.

This post is in response to TERRI WEBSTER SCHRANDT Sunday Stills challenge. The theme this week is Night. Plus…I’m writing this for a December challenge I missed…Lights. Better late than never, I suppose.

Night time in the village 2020. Nothing is to scale so please don’t judge but I enjoy putting this together every year. The town is different each year as I add new pieces and have to build it differently depending on what I purchase. It has grown from 4 buildings to what you are watching. Hope you enjoy it!

Thanks Skip. I didnโ€™t get cards this past Christmas. I meant to call you and just couldnโ€™t find the time. I will call you soon to catch up. ๐Ÿ˜Š

Seems there’s an increasing number of folks not sending Christmas cards, Lisa. Methinks it was inevitable given the utility of ways in the digital world to say “Merry Christmas,” “Seasons Greetings,” “Happy Hanukah,” and the like. I’ve thought about switching, too. However, my unshakeable “Fred Flintstone” mindset keeps me from abandoning this tradition. So much so I’ve even considered venturing further into the “old school” way of thinking by seeking a source of “vintage” Christmas cards. Unfortunately, the vintage cards I like are also quite pricey. Go figure. ๐Ÿ™‚

I just didnโ€™t get them done before my orders started coming in. I was so unprepared for the deluge of orders and I was so exhausted at days end for 2 months, it was scratched from the agenda. Luckily, I had gotten all the Christmas decor up on Thanksgiving through that weekend. Cyber week took off and that was it. I will get my cards done at the beginning of November this year and ready to mail. ๐Ÿ˜Š

You have some fabulous nights and lights shots, and a good combo for one post, Lisa! Congrats on the best lights, they look great. I want to decorate outside this December. We stopped because we always went south for Christmas to be with our kids. I want to start a village, too. Love that moon, and glad you are catching up and could share your lovely images this week.

Thanks so much Terri! It took me a bit to put it together and the first time I had some time to take photos and video. I will begin taking my Christmas stuff down this week as time permits. The moon was incredible. Your moon shot was as well! I look forward to when it gets close again. ๐Ÿ™‚

Perfectly stated. Now I’m tired of it and ready for my normal stuff. Plus the house just needs to be cleaned. ๐Ÿ™‚ I’ve started! LOL!

Thanks Deborah! That’s only a portion of it. I didn’t take all the photos of everything. Maybe next year. LOL! ๐Ÿ™‚

Your house at Christmas was festive and lovely. I love your village. Mine is so much smaller, and like yours not to scale. I haven’t added anything to it in some years now. I guess I’ve downsized it as well. ๐Ÿ˜€

Thank you so much! My village will be handed down. Both my girls are fighting over it. Not sure what I’m going to do about it at this point except keep adding to it and enjoying every year until we decide to sell the house and hit the road. ๐Ÿ™‚

Maybe the girls will split it up and then build it back up again with their own additions and hand those down to their own children?

#1 Grandson loved my village and when he and his mom moved out when he was almost 5 and right before Halloween they started getting things to decorate their then apartment. When they started buying Christmas decorations he talked Baby Girl into letting him get his own Christmas Village. He’s added a piece to it each year. I loved seeing it displayed in their living room at their new house this past Christmas.
The beat goes on in surprising ways doesn’t it? ๐Ÿ˜

Maybe, but I don’t know. Not there yet, so not a decision I have to make right now. I love that the little things like this have been passed down in some fashion. I have a lighthouse collection that has to go somewhere too but none of them have that passion like me….yet! I developed it late in life so I’m hopeful! ๐Ÿ™‚
