FOTD – Night Blooming Cereus

Macro shot of the inside of the Night Blooming Cereus Flower from our cactus plant.

I don’t know the variety of this Night Blooming Cereus Cactus flower. This flower only blooms at night, once a year or every couple of years. It has been 2 years since we have seen a flower, but we haven’t stayed up all night to wait for one either. This one was still in full bloom by the morning 2 years ago, making it the last flower we have seen from this plant. Rare capture!

The night blooming cactus flower was still in full bloom by daybreak. It has been 2 years since we have seen a flower from this plant.

      • I still do! I bought a Mega Millions ticket last Monday for Tuesday’s drawing. I was 1-3 away on every single number, even the mega ball. I’d rather be way off than get close like that. First ticket I bought in 6 months and was only $2. I had two singles in purse. Oh well! I know I’d be travelling all over the country in a travel trailer spreading good cheer! Still wouldn’t get on an airplane & wouldn’t buy one either. πŸ™‚

      • I haven’t bought one in quite a while; I always would buy one once the jackpot got over $100 million. I have no idea what it is at right now.
For me – quit my job, buy a beach house, and travel the world. That’s not asking too much… πŸ™‚

      • That’s what I’d be doing too once it’s safe to fly. I’d settle for that travel trailer and visit every state in the lower 48. Canada once we are allowed back in. I don’t think I want to travel through Mexico that way though.

      • Yep, pretty much! I’ve been to Tijuana and don’t have any desire to get into a compromising situation with the Policia Federal. No thank you! I can’t speak Spanish fluently & would probably say something that would get me behind bars without knowing it.

      • I can eat Mexican food if it isn’t too spicy. I’m allergic to coconut and much of the Thai food has coconut milk in it and I don’t like ginger. I’m not a vegetarian, but 90% of my diet is.

    • Thank you Joseph. What a wonderful description of this flower. To the ends of the earth, may we find Mother Nature…moody or not??? πŸ™‚
