For April Squares I posted the bottom photo of the Ponce de Leon Lighthouse for Becky’s Top Squares. Now perspective comes around and I have several photos to present of the lighthouse on a different day and from different perspectives. If you ever travel to Florida, I encourage you to stay in New Smyrna and visit this lighthouse that is located at 4931 S. Peninsula Dr., Ponce Inlet, Florida 32127. Ponce de Leon Lighthouse is the tallest in Florida at 175 feet (53.34 meters) high and the second tallest in the United States behind the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse in North Carolina. It is equipped with a Third Order Fresnel lens and shines out 17 nautical miles (32 kilometers or 20 miles).
For a small fee, visitors can climb to the top of this lighthouse plus walk around all the buildings on the grounds. One building has a seating area where you can watch a video about the history. Don’t forget to check out the Lens Exhibit building. On your way out, you can visit the gift shop with all kinds of nifty souvenirs.
It was a bit cloudy on this day that we visited.

Thanks, Lisa, for bringing to my attention an interesting site in Florida that I missed visiting during my five-year stay in the Tampa area. It’s now on my list of places to visit, that is once the Covid-19 pandemic becomes less of a limiting factor in our daily lives. For all your readers, here’s a neat web link with all sorts of interesting information about lighthouses. https://uslhs.org/education/glossaries-facts-trivia/lighthouse-facts

I don’t know why, but lighthouses have that mysterious way to being!

Yes they do. They feel alive when I’m near one & especially when I’m inside one. 💜

That is it’s color. If you don’t see the light, the color of the lighthouse sticks out like a soar thumb. 😂
