The Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands one nation, under God Indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Today is July 4, 2020. A day that we celebrate the Independence of the United States of America. You know, as each day goes by, we are living in the nightmare of COVID-19, social distancing, racial inequalities, job losses and a failing economy. I began soul searching for what our country could be. We are the United States of America, not the Divided States of America. Liberty and Justice for all…not just a few!
I know I have a lot of friends and followers all over the world. I love the diversity of each and every one of you. I am a proud United States Marine who served this great country of ours for 12 years. In the past 4 years America has taken a step back from our greatness. In many ways we are more divided than we have been since the Civil War that ended in 1865. I’ll say it again. We are the United States, not the divided states. Let’s get back to working together for common causes, public safety and equality for all Americans. We are creating our history every day. Let’s create a history we can look back on and be proud of.
So for this 4th of July, our 244th year of declaring our independence where all men (humans) are created equal, I send prayers to all that we survive this dark period in American history….World history.
I am appalled at what is happening in this country and around the world. If you are an American, I encourage you to get out and vote in November. Vote for change and vote against Donald Trump. We can’t take another four years.
Wear your mask in public, practice social distancing and wash your hands to take care of those you love and yourself. Help stop the spread of COVID-19! Work and support true equality; stamp out racism and prejudice of every kind.
God bless and have a Happy 4th of July.

Politics can kill off your followers, never a good idea.

You are right about that. Just trying to make a point on what today should be versus what it is today. π

But maybe then those are followers that shouldn’t be there. I always hope that fellow bloggers are open to hearing different perspectives

Thanks Becky! I just don’t like the negative that comes along with it and why I avoid it. I was just so angry yesterday and it was the strangest 4th of July I’ve ever felt! π

Good to share, and it did seem an odd one from what we could see from across the pond. Fingers crossed things improve this winter

It is really sad what is happening in USA, Iβm in Canada and we are feeling this pressure from here.

I debated on publishing my feelings because I donβt like doing politics and the negative connotations from it but I was ticked off this morning over the crap that Trump said yesterday, this week, last week and the past 4 years!

It needs the general public who rarely share need to start sharing their feelings I think as otherwise Trump and our own leaders here in the UK are never challenged by ordinary folk like you and me and so they think everyone agrees with them.

Thanks Becky! That is a great point! I’m behind on my replies. Heaven was beside herself last night between the thunder and fireworks. Poor thing gets worse every year. We had to cuddle with her under a blanket until 1am. And she is antsy, doesn’t want to stay put…gives me anxiety dealing with her anxiety. π

Thanks! It’s rougher every year, but she is having congestive heart failure episodes now. Saturday night was so bad! These episodes are more and longer every day. If we can get through the heat this summer, maybe she will make it another year. Two of my friends just lost their dogs. One on Thursday and one in the wee hours of the morning yesterday. Scary times, not for just us humans. π

I’m sorry you feel that way. I think English people are quite interesting, but I certainly can understand. One of my ancestry lines goes back to England so I supposed I have a spidge in me. I’m not a very proud American at the moment! π

The loss of access to Europe is so significant for us, I just wish I had dual nationality

I think the loss of traveling anywhere is taking its toll on people. We were supposed to go to Seattle, Washington in September for 10 days of hiking at Mt. Rainier but I’m not getting on a plane. The mountains will have to wait. π

In some ways the lack of plane travel is good, but in others it is so frustrating, and dreadful of course for those whose livelihoods are dependant on it

Everything is dreadful for those whose livelihoods depend on it. The thought of all the people in this world who are jobless and have no means to support themselves is heartbreaking. I have skills and have launched my own Etsy shop so hopefully it takes off. Making the best out of the situation. π

Thank you and you too. I got busy with my poor little dog yesterday. Thunderstorms and fireworks kept us busy cuddling with her until about 1am. She gets worse every year that goes by. π

I don’t see this as a political post at all. I see it as a plea to all of us to recognize that we need to strive to come together in the name of the best that America can be, for each and every human being. I still believe that that’s what most Americans want, even if we seem to have lost our way right now. Bless you for your service to our country.

Thank you for your kind words. I appreciate that. Somehow the entire world needs to get a grip, but it needs to start with the USA. π₯°
