After our very exciting and invigorating 6 plus hour kayak trip down the Yellowstone River, we were able to take out on the property of the Paradise Gateway Bed & Breakfast. We had been staying in the main house for the first 3 nights and on our 4th and final night, we were staying in the Tiny House.
One of the great things about this wonderful B&B, are your accommodation options. The main house is comfortable and cozy plus you get Carol’s delicious breakfast. For alternative options there are two cabins and an awesome Tiny House. Carol stocks these with delicious organic breakfast fare for you to prepare yourself. I’m sure the cabins are very special too and, we might choose that option on our next visit, but the Tiny House was perfect for us. The Tiny House is a modern home with a full kitchen, love seat, television, very comfortable queen size bed, full shower, toilet and vanity. It’s just the spot for a young couple like ourselves. Well, young at heart anyway.
The Tiny House can be seen in the background of the photo above. It is right on the Yellowstone River. As we left the last post “Paddling the Yellowstone River”, we had just gotten all the gear out of the water and up to the Tiny House before the skies emptied and Mother Nature gave us a nice downpour. Separate from the house, it has a nice little screened-in porch where you can enjoy the river in the middle of a downpour or enjoy the night with no bugs to interfere with the serenity of the river. I was cozy inside and Frank was enjoying the storm on the porch. You can see the porch out the windows in one of the pictures below.
Staying in the Tiny House is much different than staying in the main house. Even though you have your own private room and bathroom in the main house, staying in the Tiny House gives you a sense of independence that you don’t feel in the main house. The Tiny House was quaint and very comfortable. When the rain became more of a shower than a downpour, we were able to open the windows and breathe in the fresh mountain air. The sound of the light rain was mesmerizing and romantic. I was tired and sore and found myself in bed early. Frank stayed up and enjoyed the stars of the big sky.
The next morning, sore from the paddle the day before, I felt rested and ready for the next leg of our trip with so many more adventures to go. Oh, and did I mention, I was hungry.
When staying in the Tiny House, Carol provided us with wonderful food. We had organic eggs, cream, butter, fresh baked bread, and homemade jam. All we could say was yum, yum.
While Frank was packing up the kayak and loading our luggage into the minivan, I prepared breakfast. French toast was on the menu on our 5th day of vacation. I set the table and finished cooking with the ingredients provided by Carol. With the ambience of our setting in this beautiful little home along the river, the food tasted even better than it looks.
It was time to hit the road and we left this wonderful place with mixed feelings. We were very excited for the next phase of our incredible adventure but, we enjoyed our stay at Paradise Gateway so much we could have spent weeks there. We couldn’t have chosen a better place to visit and we look forward to seeing Pete and Carol again on future stays.

Tiny House seems ideally located near the river. Did you see any animals?

It was right on the river. We saw lots of birds. Bald eagle, common mergansers, mule deer, rabbit, snake, & prairie dogs.

I would love to live off the grid but it is not in our plan at this time. The tiny house was just a one night stay and part of our 12 day vacation in September, 2019. About the time you moved into The Red Shed. We are pretty conservative with waste and have partial solar power on our house. 🙂
